Glass Community

Warmer weather would be a blessing indeed! Our weather here in Florida is no doubt not as chilly as what you have but still it does put a crimp in glass work. Most mornings to warm up the studio takes a minimum of an hour and when the temps drop it can take three hours! Waiting and looking at that in-process piece is frustrating. We end up working until 9 or 10pm not realizing the time because we didn't get started until late. I am looking at three little (3 1/2") hummingbirds this morning I want to mount up like they are in flight for a plant stake but the temp is not there yet! Well, here's to warmer weather and lots of art being created! Best of wishes to you for warm weather!

Thats what I worry about if I move my studio to my garage. Its not attached to my house so I would have to heat it... so it will be more expensive to operate.

I was thinking a radiant floor to keep the general temp up and then probably an electric heater to actually heat the space. I understand that the radiant heat works well, because cabinets and shelving that sit on the floor also radiate heat. If I keep the glass stored in something that touches the floor the glass will maintain a good temp.

I live in New England so we have many 0 and below days - at least in the basement I am already heating the house and it doesn't cost me extra for the basement. In fact the furnace does a nice job of keeping the basement warm.
