Remember that song from 1979 Video Killed the Radio Star? In an age where the internet has superceded both video and radio in many respects, radio is making a comeback...online!
When I left school in the mid 90's one of the first volunteer jobs I had was on a Community Radio station on the North Coast of NSW. It was fantastic - I got my own show, I played music I liked and I got to chat with callers.
Well it's 15 years after my own radio show and 31 years after that song, and radio still hasn't disappeared - in fact it is becoming even more popular with the internet. Nowadays you can listen to thousands of stations online - so radio is no longer even restricted to the local town.
Also one of the things I want for this site is to really promote people doing great things with art glass and help them share their fantastic work and techniques with other members.
Bringing all these elements together: in March I am planning a series of four talkback radio shows online about art glass! The radio shows will start with me interviewing someone, and then we'll 'open up the lines' globally and have Q&A time just like a 'real' radio show.
Cool or what?
I am currently searching for 'interesting people doing interesting things with art glass' to interview for the shows. If you are interested, just send me an email (info@glasscommunity.com) with a little bit about you and what you would like to talk about.
P.S. Just to remind you, here is that song:
