This is a group for amateur and professional glass blowers in southern Ontario, to discuss studios, courses, tips and techniques, supplies, innovation, everything to do with blowing glass. Everyone from interested pre-beginners to glass masters is welcome to join and exchange ideas, ask questions, and show off your best and brightest work.
A focus on(but not limited to) small to large production operations(jewelry, pipes, prep, etc). Tips on effeciency, shop cleaning schedules, tool placement, proper technique, etc. Vid and pic demos welcome but please do not submit anything you might think is proprietary (meaning, your boss doesn't want you sharing that technique with the general public), we don't want anyone getting themselves in trouble. Also can be used as a spot for those 'wtf' moments when it just doesn't make any sense... we've all been there. Production people have a lot to offer the general glass people as we make hundreds/thousands of a product at a pace that would spin most weekend warriors heads off. Lots to learn!

The Frederick Hot Glass Society was started by local artists with the passion for hot glass who wanted to share ideas and experiences with other glass artists. The membership consists of artists who are experienced in the areas of fused glass, lampworking, PMC, casting, pate de’verre, stained glass as well as other mediums which work well with glass. All the members are very active in the local art scene and involved with area craft and gallery shows. Members are also involved with other lampwork groups, the International Society of Glass Beadmakers (ISGB), and teaching. The Society also maintains a website (www.frederickhotglass.org).

I have been experimenting and selling some recycled glass art. Cleaning the used bottles is a lot of work and it would be nice if there were any shortcuts. Let's share our findings and see what we can collectively come up with.
