Profile pictures and photos on this website have the following requirements and guidelines:
- Size: the file size can be up to 2MB (2048 Bytes). However the smaller the size, the faster it uploads.
- Tip: Use a software program to "compress" your pictures (this makes them both smaller in file size and height/width). This website allows you to compress your images for free: http://www.imageoptimizer.net/Pages/Home.aspx. Before using this tool, be sure to take a copy of your image first so you have a copy of the original high quality image.
- Accepted File Types: are BMP,GIF,JPG and PNG. However the best file types for displaying pictures on websites are JPG, GIF and PNG.
- Article Image Re-size: all images inserted into articles will be reduced to 450px or less in width and height.
- Profile Image Re-size: Profile pictures will be automatically resized to a maximum width of 160px however resizing your profile photo first (using the image optimizer website above) will make it upload faster, especially on non-broadband links.
