Review
The Jim Moore 10.5" Jacks in one word... HUGE. Not a bad thing but be prepared, because even with warning I almost could not believe it. I got a pair of these from a friend who used them once for about 2/3 the new price and am pretty happy with them. They will take some getting used to and you will probably poke a piece with the tips by accident... ask me how I know.
Compared to the other sized JM jacks I have used these are much stiffer (granted the fact the other jacks are school tools might have weakened their spring a bit making these seem so different). The blades are nice and thick and are well shaped to cut necks. The only effort you will feel when cutting a neck like with them is the spring of the handle and they will cut a great line very fast.
The main use these jacks see in my work is just cutting a neck line, a little action when making a longer cylinder and the straps for shaping up a color drop since its the only clean tool usually.
So are they worth it?
If you work large and want something to give a long straight sides these work well, and for cutting necks in 2+ gathers on a pipe like the Spiral Arts Workhorse you will have great control. However they are probably not as utilitarian as a smaller pair like the 9" jacks.
In short, these are good but they are way to big to be your only jacks.
